Tying it all together

A poem I've been working on for a little while now, I rediscovered it's hand written, patched together, original in one of my note books and decided that I must finish it.

'Do you still have time?'

What will you do when your well runs dry?
On that day do you plan to just sit there and cry?
Will you realise at last what those songs and poems did shout?
Finally learn what those profits and artists were about?

Will you learn what it is to be small?
As the price of living causes you to crawl?
Ignore teachers still, sacrifice them to your media gods?
Warm yourself in the glow, accepting your sentence with nods?

Will your gold gilded cages keep you warm at night?
Still distract you from worries you never try to fight?
Did you believe and believe still the lies?
Hypnotising as they were, as they flashed before your eyes?

Or do you see as I see that all is not right?
Do you wonder each day why you put up a fight?
Finding each coin so cold, like ice in your hand?
As they slip though your fingers like glittering sand?

I ask no I beg, what are you waiting for?
At what point will you realise that there must be more?
When you look at this beautiful world and see,
That only when you raise your voice you will ever be free.

Bring on the last straw

I can only ever really talk about my own experiences of things, of how I see things.

So statements like 'isn't it funny how' or 'you know when' could refer to things that I might be the only one that it happens to.
An example could be a news report says 'they plan to have this in force by 2012' I laugh at yet another mention of '2012' and people in the room ask 'what are you laughing at?'
So I try to explain just to get weird looks and 'where do you get all that crap from?'

Why do I write these? is it for other people? or for myself? both?
Part of me wants to make people aware of things and another part is just desperate for someone to share such views with.

It amazes me how little people see however.
Take today, there were two news reports.

1. "Unions at a major British oil refinery were due to meet management for talks on a planned strike that drove oil prices to a new record on Monday as a farmers' union said fuel suppliers had imposed rationing."

2. "The 10p band was formally scrapped earlier this month, but the Finance Bill provides a focus for a rebellion. The change means that low earners who would have paid income tax at the lowest, introductory 10 per cent rate will now have to pay the 20 per cent rate."

With the insane rise in the price of fuel the cost of living has sky rocketed and yet people are now making less money.
Dept is going up.

Where is this going to lead? Is the UK going to be turned in to an island prison because we all can't pay our bills?

Or do you get the impression that we're being provoked in to something?
